EcoLogix Group Kicks Off Builders for the Coastal Bays Site Planning Roundtable in Worcester County, Maryland

Annapolis, MD (November 12, 2003) - EcoLogix Group, a professional services company focused on sustainability planning and creating economic, environmental and social value, teamed with its long-standing partner, the Center for Watershed Protection, to kick off an extensive site planning roundtable process for Worcester County, Maryland at the county offices in Snow Hill, MD on November 12, 2003. EcoLogix Group was previously selected by the United States Environmental Protection Agency and the Maryland Coastal Bays Program to design an innovative project for the Maryland Coastal Bays and Delaware Inland Bays watersheds to address the tremendous environmental impacts resulting from dramatic growth in the region. The Worcester County Roundtable is a key element of the program that EcoLogix Group has designed which is known as the Builders for the Coastal Bays Program.

EcoLogix Group crafted the Builders program and teamed with the Center for Watershed Protection to bring a unique, consensus-building approach to improving the local jurisdictions' development codes and ordinances. The Site Planning process brings together a broad array of stakeholders concerned with development to review and assess current codes and ordinances with an eye toward identifying and removing obstacles to environmentally sensitive development practices. The kick-off meeting was extremely well-attended with representatives from the Worcester County government, utilities, environmental organizations, banks, development professionals, and others who have committed to participation in the roundtable process. The roundtable participants will continue to meet in 2004 until they have completed their work and developed a consensus set of recommendations for changes to Worcester County's codes and ordinances. EcoLogix is providing full project support ranging from roundtable planning to meeting facilitation services.

"This important meeting marks a vital step forward for the Maryland Coastal Bays area in its on-going effort to deal with the environmental and social impacts associated with the explosive growth that the region has seen in the past several years. We applaud the participants and especially the Maryland Coastal Bays Program, Worcester County, and USEPA for having the foresight to tackle these tough issues head on and we are optimistic that the Builders for the Coastal Bays Program will pay great dividends for the region well into the future," stated George Chmael II, President of EcoLogix Group.
