EcoLogix Group Chosen by the Council of the District of Columbia to Serve as Project Leader in Addressing Lead-Contaminated Drinking Water in Our Nation's Capital

Annapolis, MD (April 9, 2004) - EcoLogix Group, a professional services company focused on sustainability planning and creating economic, environmental and social value, has been selected by the Council of the District of Columbia to assume project leader and management responsibilities in the Council's urgent effort to solve public health concerns caused by elevated lead levels in some of the drinking water in Washington, DC.

The Council's Committee on Public Works and the Environment is taking a lead oversight role in helping to investigate and solve this critical problem by conducting a comprehensive investigation into the technical and organizational causes of the circumstance and the proposed remediation plans, and ensuring timely and relevant communications with District citizens and others on the issue. The Committee has chosen EcoLogix Group as their project leader to manage the necessary investigation, outreach and communications effort. These responsibilities will be accomplished by EcoLogix Group working in tandem with its communications partner, Fleishman Hillard. In addition, EcoLogix Group will undertake research regarding similar circumstances and solutions from around the nation, and a comprehensive analysis of the effectiveness of governmental operations and the current organizational infrastructure relative to the District's water utilities system. Following completion of the investigation, research, and analysis, EcoLogix Group will report to the Council its findings and any recommendations for improving the current structure.
