EcoLogix Group Conducts First Builders for the Coastal Bays Site Planning Workshop in Sussex County, Delaware

Annapolis, MD (April 1, 2004) - EcoLogix Group, a professional services company focused on sustainability planning and creating economic, environmental and social value, teamed with its long-standing partner, the Center for Watershed Protection, to conduct a comprehensive site planning workshop in Sussex County, Delaware at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center on March 31, 2004. EcoLogix Group was previously selected by the United States Environmental Protection Agency and the Maryland Coastal Bays Program to design an innovative project for the Maryland Coastal Bays and Delaware Inland Bays watersheds to address the tremendous environmental impacts resulting from dramatic growth in the region. The Workshop in Rehoboth Beach compliments a roundtable process occurring in Worcester County, Maryland as key components of the program that EcoLogix Group has designed which is known as the Builders for the Coastal Bays Program.

EcoLogix Group crafted the Builders for the Coastal Bays Program and teamed with the Center for Watershed Protection to bring a unique, educational and consensus-building approach to improving development practices at the local jurisdiction level. The Site Planning process brings together a broad array of stakeholders concerned with development to learn more about environmentally sensitive development practices and, in the case of Worcester County, Maryland, to review and assess current codes and ordinances with an eye toward identifying and removing obstacles to the use of such development practices. The Workshop was well-attended with representatives, including mayors, from the governments of many of the towns in Sussex County, utilities, environmental organizations, realtors, development professionals, associations, and others who have expressed an interest in the Builders program. EcoLogix is providing full project support ranging from program planning to meeting facilitation services.

"We believe that this important workshop marks another step forward for the Delaware Inland Bays area in its on-going effort to address the environmental and social impacts associated with the explosive growth that the region has seen in the past several years. We applaud the participants, the Delaware Center for the Inland Bays, and USEPA for having the foresight to tackle these tough issues head on and we are optimistic that the Builders for the Coastal Bays Program will pay great dividends for the region well into the future," stated George Chmael II, President of EcoLogix Group.
